More space in the rack

E-T-A’s 0U PDU creates space for active IT components, even in DC power networks
Data centres are the backbone of digitisation. The demands on computing power, storage capacity and availability are increasing. That is why it is imperative for operators to make the most efficient use of their server racks. Servers, network technology and power distribution systems are coming into focus.
One efficiency-enhancing approach is to relocate the power distribution unit to the rear of the rack. Vertically mounted systems do not require 19-inch height units, thereby freeing up space for additional active components. This increases the utilisation of each rack and improves cost-effectiveness.
E-T-A has developed the 0U-PDU power distribution system for DC networks to meet this specific application. It can be fitted to the rear profile rails of server and network cabinets to save space. Several modules can be installed one on top of one another, providing numerous selectively protected load outputs. By installing these on both sides of the rack, a redundant power supply can be implemented.

Pluggable hydraulic-magnetic circuit breakers provide selective protection for each load output. If a fault occurs, the circuit breaker disconnects only the affected circuit; all other loads remain operational. Since these circuit breakers can operate almost independently of the ambient temperature, they function and trip reliably even in densely packed server cabinets.
Another benefit is their flexibility. The circuit breakers can be easily replaced or adjusted to a different rated current if requirements change. Additional slots allow for future upgrades without the need for modifications. Therefore, the 0U PDU supports space-saving, safe and future-proof power distribution in modern data centres, even in DC power networks.
